What is LUNA?

LUNA is a sleep system made up of four active ingredients that, when put together, will lead to better sleep for your child. The key to success is making sure that all four ingredients are covered and that we tackle these ingredients in the correct order.

What are the four active ingredients?

The first ingredient is A proper sleep environment. Together, we will go through your child's sleep environment to ensure that we are setting them up for success in every possible way.

Next, we will cover the second active ingredient - a consistent Bedtime routine. Bedtime routine is the series of events that happens before night time sleep and nap time sleep. It is important that your child has a consistent bedtime and nap time routine so that their bodies know that sleep is coming. These two active ingredients, sleep environment and bedtime routine are necessary to set up a solid sleep foundation for your child. These will be the two ingredients that we cover first. In our experience ensuring a healthy sleep environment and routine allows for sleep training to be more effective and happen faster.

The third active ingredient is a Clock-based sleep schedule. Typically, if your child is older than 4 months old, their circadian rhythms are developed. That means that you should no longer go by wake times for their sleep schedule, but rather shift to the time on the clock. Through our LUNA sleep system, we will make recommendations for you to develop a clock based sleep schedule according to research on many children the same age as your child indicating what time their bodies need daytime and night time sleep.

The final active ingredient is inDependent sleep. This is the last component of the sleep system. Sleep training will teach your child how to fall asleep on their own and stay asleep on their own. We will share a variety of methods together and help you choose the one that will work best for your family. Sleep training is the process of teaching your child how to fall asleep on their own and stay asleep on their own. The most common error in teaching babies how to sleep is starting with sleep training before there is an adequate sleep environment, sleep routine and schedule in place. We need to ensure that the foundation is there before starting any type of training. Furthermore, we’ve seen that sometimes sleep training is not required at all or very minimally, the other active ingredients were tackled first.
